Foundation to Accept Monetary Donations for COVID-19 Medical Response

Grand Marais – The North Shore Health Care Foundation, in conjunction with the Cook County Emergency Operations Center, recently announced it will be the organization to accept monetary donations to support the local front-line medical response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus. The Foundation is also prepared to match up to $20,000 in donations to support Cook County’s local health systems and emergency services organizations.

“Supporting Cook County’s health providers and emergency responders has been at the heart of the Foundation’s work since its inception,” said Jerry Lilja, President – North Shore Health Care Foundation. “When approached to accept monetary donations for the medical response, our Board felt it was a natural fit. As well, we are prepared to match donor contributions up to $20,000 to ensure that our front-line health and emergency responders have what they need to manage the local COVID-19 response and continue to safely operate under the current challenging circumstances.”

Monies raised through the dedicated COVID-19 fund will initially go towards securing personal protective equipment (PPE), supplies and equipment needed to operate and respond to emergency calls during the Coronavirus pandemic. Health partners, including the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic, North Shore Health, Cook County Public Health & Human Services, Emergency Management and Emergency Services will identify what the greatest needs are through the Emergency Operations Center and Incident Command Structure as the response to the pandemic goes on.
